Seven Social Sins
Positive attitude in life leads to integration and negative towards destruction. One should escape from negativity in life and its devastating effects.
Happiness and prosperity are not about material wealth alone. Most economic indicators do not take into account true underlying measures. Material wealth indicators include factors like growth in invested capital, low dependence on foreign aid, education, good governance low costs of bureaucracy etc. Life satisfaction drivers are freedom of choice, good health, equality of opportunity, religious faith, high levels of income, low unemployment rates and low divorce rates. It was interesting to note by the Institute that drivers of happiness are different for developed and developing countries. Such as at low income levels, Survival is of utmost importance, every thing else takes a back seat.
In any society, what are those evils which puts hurdle in promoting its harmony and peace? Mahatma Gandhi has enlightened the people about it, while commenting very correctly about seven social sins prevalent in modern society –
“Seven social sins : –
– Wealth without work,
– Pleasure without conscience,
– Knowledge without character,
– Commerce without morality,
– Science without humanity, and
– Politics without principles,
– Worship without sacrifice.”
It is pious duty of each individual to try to change his/her mindset and try to follow the right path.
